After School Enrichment Program...

We are currently offering an After-School Enrichment program that was started in the fall of 2007. It has been very successful with students returning the following session.

The program consists of 6 or 8-one hour presentations over 6 or 8 weeks. In three of those weeks, we bring in Live non-releasable wild birds along with touchable artifacts.
Owl Foot
Touchable artifacts include feathers, wings, skulls, feet and taxidermy birds.

For the other five weeks, we are partnering with Birdsleuths out of Cornell University's lab of Ornithology, teaching bird identification skills and helping the students improve their own neighborhood environment.

Each school who offers this program, gets a bird feeding station including feeder and food, donated through Wild Birds Unlimited in Pleasant Hill, Mt Diablo Audubon Chapter and Native Bird Connections

In memoriam, Duane Self for the generous gift of a spotting scope for the After-School Enrichment program. He supported Native Bird Connections from the beginning
kids with bags
The students decorate a canvas grocery bag with bird themes of their own design. They can take it shopping, learning about
reuse and reducing the amount of plastic in the environment.
We use canvas bags from ECOBAGS. If you would like to find out about other types of reusable products that help the environment, please click on the ECOBAGS logo
